Easy Mango Vanilla Smoothie

346

This easy mango vanilla smoothie is a sweet taste of summer! Full of frozen mango, it’s a chilled drink that can be varied to suit your preferences. Each gulp of delicious fruity vanilla smoothie is a reminder of the summer season.

I love mango, in particular red mangos. Growing up, I had never even had a mango. It was one of those fruits that took a while to come to local stores, and they were costly. Nowadays, you can purchase an entire case of delicious ripe mangos for a reasonable cost. This makes cutting them up and freezing them to use later such a great idea!

One way we love mangoes in our home is in a smoothie. We also are big Greek yogurt lovers. Greek yogurt is a delicious dessert-style treat that’s gone up in price a lot lately. So if it’s out of budget, using a vanilla regular yogurt will also suffice.

THE HUNT FOR A GREAT SMOOTHIE BLENDER.

For years I was hunting for the best blender to make smoothies. Finally, there was one time I acquired a smoothie blender with a stopper. The thing is, most blenders just don’t cut it. They need the power to go for it and reduce frozen fruits to much beyond a clumpy mess. They also are a pain in the butt; you are constantly pushing ingredients down off the walls. I got so fed up with these low-quality blenders.

Enter my favorite blender to date. The Ninja! Its three blades offer more chopping power and have more POWER to spare. Breaking down even the toughest fruits and veggies until they are pureed! The Ninja blender even gives my food processor a run for its money. So if you’re seeking a new blender or just really sick of fighting with your old one, I recommend the Ninja!

As I said, I love buying mango by the case, so I binged on fresh mango and found myself with more than we could possibly finish. Enter the freezer bag! It’s so simple to cut and dice mango–although I recommend having a towel on hand to dry hands in between. The juicy fruit freezes perfectly and last well in the freezer.

Put the frozen fruit in the blender first and puree until fully broken down. Because it is frozen, you may find it’s sticking to the sides of the blender. That’s alright; larger pieces will find their way to the blades.

Once the mango is broken down, add the yogurt and the almond milk right after. These are your ‘liquids,’ so they will blend into the frozen fruit and loosen it from the sides of the blender. This recipe makes a perfect thick mango vanilla smoothie. However, if you prefer a thinner smoothie, add more almond milk. Remember, the more milk you add, the more smoothie you will end up with.

How can you switch this mango vanilla smoothie up?

  • Smoothies are great to fiddle with. For this recipe, you can change the mango for peaches and have an equally delicious drink.
  • In this smoothie, we used vanilla yogurt, which added the right amount of sweetness for us. However, if you find it too sweet, try plain yogurt with a splash of vanilla extract.
  • If you love the texture that the bit of coconut adds to the smoothie, you can add it throughout instead of just on top as garnish.
  • Almond milk is a yummy addition to this recipe; however, if you prefer oat, potato, or coconut milk, you can do so. If you are making it for kids, straight cow milk works as well.
