This saucy bbq meatball recipe takes a few ingredients and minimal prep to make a delicious meal the whole family loves. Served over mashed potatoes, noodles, rice or with a crusty bread this simple meal is always a welcome comfort food meal. You can tone down the sweetness of the recipe by reducing the brown sugar, make a thicker bbq sauce by cutting back on the water, and enjoy to your families personal preference.

The Meatball Mixture 3¼ lbs Lean Ground Beef 1 Cup Bread Crumbs 1 Lrg Egg ½ tsp Garlic Powder 1 tsp Salt Neutral Oil The BBQ Sauce 2 Cup Ketchup 2 Cup Water 3 Tbsp Dry Mustard Powder 1 tsp Chipotle Pepper 2 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce 1 Cup Red Onion Diced
In a mixing bowl add the ingredients for the meatballs, mix well.
3¼ lbs Lean Ground Beef, 1 Cup Bread Crumbs, 1 Lrg Egg, ½ tsp Garlic Powder, 1 tsp Salt
Form into 1-1½ inch balls and set aside on plate.
In large frying pan add a few tablespoons neutral oil.
Neutral Oil
Heat on medium heat.
Add the meatballs to hot oil in the pan and brown. Be sure to brown on all sides.
This should take approx 5-8 minutes.
Remove from hot pan to 9 by 13 baking dish.
To Make Sauce. Measure all the ingredients into a mixing bowl and blend well.
2 Cup Ketchup, 2 Cup Water, 3 Tbsp Dry Mustard Powder, 1 tsp Chipotle Pepper , 2 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce, 1 Cup Red Onion
To Bake Meatballs. Preheat oven to 350℉.
Cover meatballs in baking dish with the sauce.
Cover the pan with foil and seal edges tightly.
Bake in hot oven for 30-45 minutes.
Remove from oven and test for doneness with meat thermometer. Temp should be 160℉
Serving Over mashed potatoes- make a well in the center of potatoes for extra sauce for kids.
Alongside noodles or rice.
With a crusty bread for dipping in extra sauce.
